Reiki (rākē) is a spiritual practice developed in 1922 by a Japanese Buddist Mikao Usui. The word Reiki means “Spiritually guided life force energy”. It is derived from two words “Rei”, meaning “God’s Wisdom” and “Ki” or “Chi, which is “Life Force Energy”. In it’s simplest form it is a natural healing energy. It has been adapted by
teachers of different traditions resulting in several techniques. All Rieki methods treat the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit. There are many beneficial effects of Reiki including relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well-being. Many have reported miraculous results.
“A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you.”

Reiki Training
One becomes a Reiki practitioner through an educational process. There are three areas of education and training. The initial training allows one to practice Reiki with others. The second step enhances distance healing. The third step is Master, this allows one to teach and pass attunements. An attunement opens one to receive and channel Chi energy and activates
symbols for use when performing Reiki treatments. An attunement can be a powerful spiritual experience. Dr. Jane teaches and passes attunements. Call if you are interested in learning Reiki.

A Reiki Session
During a Reiki session, the practitioner channels energy through his/her body out their hands to the patient,
activating the patient’s self-healing abilities. This life force
energy is administered by a gentle laying of the hands on the body. Sometimes a practitioner will work within the auric field without physical touching. Both techniques are equally effective. One will feel relaxed and possibly sleep during a treatment. The patient will either sit back in a chair or lay down. Depending the method of Reiki the practitioner was trained in, a session can last from a few minutes to an hour. The effectiveness of Reiki does not depend on length of the session.
